The 1st Cornwall Light Infantry battalion were part of 14 Brigade, 5th Division that had arrived in France in August 1914 and since then had been engaged in the Retreat from Mons and the Battles of the Marne and the Aisne. At some stage William Barnett was wounded and taken back to England where he died on 28th September, 1914. but as yet there is no information as to where and when he was wounded. |
